‘Iran Backs Syria Against US, Israel’
‘Iranian ambassador to Syria has reiterated Tehran’s full support for Damascus in the face of the US and Israeli schemes against the Syrian nation.
“The West is attempting to abuse the developments in the region for its [own] benefits,” Mohammad-Reza Sheibani warned in the Syrian capital Damascus on Wednesday, referring to the wave of Islamic Awakening sweeping the Arab world, IRNA reported.
“Today, we see this Islamic Awakening in the Islamic resistance in Lebanon and Palestine, which is advancing in the interest of the Muslim world and threatening the West’s interests,” he said.’
US Aircraft Carrier CVN-77 Parks Next Door To Syria Just As US Urges Americans To Leave Country ‘Immediately’
‘Yesterday we reported that the Arab League (with European and US support) are preparing to institute a no fly zone over Syria. Today, we get an escalation which confirms we may be on the edge.
Just out from CBS: “The U.S. Embassy in Damascus urged its citizens in Syria to depart “immediately,” and Turkey’s foreign ministry urged Turkish pilgrims to opt for flights to return home from Saudi Arabia to avoid traveling through Syria.”
But probably the most damning evidence that the “western world” is about to do the unthinkable and invade Syria, and in the process force Iran to retaliate, is the weekly naval update from Stratfor, which always has some very interesting if always controversial view on geopolitics, where we find that for the first time in many months, CVN 77 George H.W. Bush has left its traditional theater of operations just off the Straits of Hormuz, a critical choke point, where it traditionally accompanies the Stennis, and has parked… right next to Syria.’
‘US, Israel Funding Terrorists in Syria’
‘A prominent political analyst says that members of the anti-government “Free Syria Army” are not defected army personnel but militants backed, funded and armed by the United States, Israel, and Turkey.
In an article published on Global Research website on November 20, Thailand-based geopolitical expert Tony Cartalucci cited a report released by the International Institute for Strategic Studies stating that Syria’s opposition is armed and prepared to drag the country into more violence.
“The report comes in sharp contrast to the propaganda fed via the corporate-media and the West’s foreign ministers on a daily basis, where the violence is portrayed as one-sided, with Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad ‘gunning down’ throngs of peaceful, placard waving protesters,” Cartalucci wrote.’
Turkey Says Unrest is Syria’s Internal Affair, Won’t Allow Any Intervention
‘Turkey has said an uprising in Syria is its neighbor’s internal affair and that it will not allow any state to militarily intervene in Syria over the regime’s brutal military crackdown on the eight-month uprising, ruling out any possibility that Turkey will become militarily involved.
“We won’t send soldiers [to Syria], won’t intervene and won’t allow and create conditions for others to intervene,” Bülent Arınç, Turkey’s deputy prime minister told a local TV network in Bursa. Arınç, who is also the government’s spokesman, said any foreign intervention will create divisions not only in Syria but also across the region. He added that incidents in Syria are developing along ethnic lines and sectarianism is also playing a role.
Arınç’s remarks came at a time when Syria’s armed opposition groups asked Turkey to create a buffer zone to shelter anti-regime fighters. Lt. Salem Odeh, a defector from Latakia, told Reuters this week that historic and religious ties with Turkey that go back to the Ottoman Empire mean Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s opponents — generally wary of outside interference — would accept a Turkish military role.’
Russia Arms Syria With Missiles To Defend Against NATO Attack
‘We now know what those six Russian warships that reportedly entered Syrian territorial waters last week were carrying. Aside from representing a show of strength to discourage NATO powers from launching a military attack, on board were Russian technical experts ready to help Damascus set up a sophisticated missile defense system sold to them by Moscow.
“Russian warships that have reached waters off Syria in recent days were carrying, among other things, Russian technical advisors who will help the Syrians set up an array of S-300 missiles Damascus has received in recent weeks, a report in the London-based Arabic language Al Quds-Al Arabi said Thursday. Citing sources in Syria and Russia, the paper said that Moscow sees a Western attack on Syria as a “red line” that it will not tolerate,” reports Arutz Sheva.’
‘UK, French Spies Meet Syrian Dissidents’
‘According to Lebanese media, British and French agents are in contact with Syrian dissidents opposed to President Bashar al-Assad in the northern Lebanese town of Tripoli, a Press TV correspondent reported on Friday.
Lebanese media reports also suggest that French intelligence officers are training Syrian dissidents on guerrilla warfare tactics inside Lebanon. This has prompted a Lebanese lawmaker to call for an inquiry into the allegation. Meanwhile, former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri has met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris. It is well known that Sarkozy and Hariri are hostile towards President Assad.’
